Job Ref: 1024

The Higher Education Funding Council for England (HEFCE) distributes public money for higher education to universities and colleges in England, and ensures that this money is used to deliver the greatest benefit to students and the wider public.

We are seeking to recruit an Analyst to join our supportive, enthusiastic, and high performing Analytical Services Directorate (ASD). Our Analysts apply a range of data analytics techniques to large sets of data in order to inform decision-makers in HEFCE and wider government.

You will assist in the development of the complex systems, processes and algorithms HEFCE requires to fund and regulate higher education. The role focuses on collecting and analysing data to support HEFCE`s regulatory function, including the HEFCE register and course designation for alternative providers. The role involves problem-solving, logical reasoning and incisive interpretation of data, rules and definitions.

We are seeking candidates who are numerate, think logically and have the ability to develop good analytical and programming skills. The role features a variety of technology and responsibilities, so a willingness to learn is vital. ASD values knowledge sharing and development; we offer both external and internal training that covers SAS programming, IT, and interpersonal skills.

This is a full time role but 0.75 FTE will be considered.

Using powers in the Higher Education and Research Act, it is intended that the Office for Students (OfS) will assume the responsibilities of HEFCE from 1 April 2018 at which point it is anticipated that this role will transfer to the OfS. Due to the transition to the Office for Students, the successful candidate will either need to start on or before the 28th February 2018 or on or after 2nd April 2018.

Benefits include 25 days` annual leave, a comprehensive staff development programme, and the opportunity to join the Civil Service Pension scheme.

If you would like further information regarding the role and working for HEFCE please contact and we can arrange a telephone conversation or for you to visit our offices.

Closing date: 23:55pm on the 22nd January 2018
